Dusk - You Are Unworthy
0I've watched a lot of games across the last few years and some haven't really lived up to the hype and trust me, with games like the Saints Row reboot, I could see that disaster from a mile. The Boomer shooter genre as it's called I do find myself neutral towards but its provided new and exciting findings in the FPS genre, such as this game produced by David Szymanski, co-produced by Dave Oshrey and released by New Blood Interactive.
Going back to 2018, Dusk was released on PS4, Halloween 2023. Dusk is a Quake like FPS game that puts us in control of "Dusk Dude", A treasure hunter seeking treasure in Dusk Pennsylvania when we're attacked by a cult.. The horror has only just begun. Similar to other 1990's style shooter games, The movement and weapon/inventory system is the main emphasis with our movement being like Quake but faster.
Controls on PlayStation are a bit challenging to get use to, but I think its the best in a FPS on console so far: L1 and R1 will quick swap between the Sickles and our last weapon, Dpad selects weapon. Sliding and jumping had never felt so smooth or easy, though the flip when in midair I have issues pulling off. Dusk's gameplay as before is fast and furious with a large focus on secrets, and these secrets become mandatory if you are playing on above skill level 2.
Dusk's Music, Composed by Andrew Hulshult who has also composed music for the 2013 Rise of the Triad Remake, and other projects gives the adrenaline I would expect from a FPS that lets you move quickly and dual wield sickles, pistols and shotguns, among other weapons. Dusk has a total of 3 episodes with its massive maps having a distinctive color palate, and many dangerous enemies who will be a test of your movement and ammo conservation. But for what it is, Dusk is a Solid FPS game, one of the best I've played in these modern times.
