Elea Episode 1 Xbox One Review | A Rather British Review
33Its been awhile since we’ve seen a company do something rather unique with a story driven game Kyodel Ltd and Soedescos episode franchise Elea you are thrust into a situation where you believe that you are living a normal life as a pregnant housewife and titular character Elea as she discusses the move into her new home whilst her husband Ethan is aboard the spaceship pilgrimage, a facility that sets out a mission to find a new home for mankind but then things take a turn for the peculiar, something that the game theorists would usually cover as you find that your life is a life, gone is Ethan and their happy home, you are taken from being a concerned parent attempting to unlock your son’s room in order to find a way to communicate with him and you realise after an LSD type of acid trip similar to the days of the playstation one that this is all a simulation.
Similar to the likes of total recal and its protagonist douglas quade Elea is thrown into a rather unique world where the aspect of point and click turn into navigation and a broken narrative, following the prologue you are given a hardcore sensory overload elea awakens in a a space ship far from her son francis, away from ethan Elea attempts to reprogramme and find her way off of a ship distant from her son who seems to have forgiven her from a past mistake but then are convinced into reprogramming the ship and finding a way out via a shuttle, the plot points of this game are rather confusing but does hold elements to games such as Silent Hills, the PT Beta that was showing the player something unique in a rather scattered place with no boundaries, Elea tries to do just that and bring about a story that is rather confusing the experience in general is rather unique especially being that this is the first episode of an episodic series in which you as the player are taken along for the ride.
In terms of mechanics, there is no hand holding here, migration is tough and there are certain times where you will get stuck trying to figure out where you are going or what you need to do to trigger your next mission, if you suffer from seizures be wary of the glitches lsd like sequences that will do a lot of damage to your senses.
Now as always I give all the games I review a rating between 1 and a 5 from one being the worst and five being the best I give elea a standard 3.5 out of 5.
By no means a classic I can see something here, it is a rather unique experience but I would suggest that things need to flow a little more in order to give the player every opportunity to meet the requirements to continue and progress, lets hope that the next episode does this and not leave us crying in a corner frustratingly trying to figure out what we are doing wrong.

Now back to me as I attempt to escape from the trippy world that I am in before I am removed from it entirely.
