Free games, who doesn't like free games! Well check out this very cool, very very tilting game that you can check out for free on steam right now. It's called Eraser, and that name doesn't really explain all that much about the game but you do try and collect erasers as you make your way to the top of this very, very challenging platform game. And hey, I was only playing on easy mode, so imagine what's ahead.
Eraser is a 3d action platform game where you play as a stick figure that pretty much only wants to get higher, jumping up levels and parrying, dashing through and anything else that works to make it further towards the top. The best bit, if you happen to make a small mistake, expect to be falling, quite far to the bottom in a game that has you wincing in pain as you realise that you're about to start all over again. Eraser was originally made as a game jam, and usually with project like these, be expecting some pretty interesting and creative mechanics and gameplay, without all the bells and whistles you might expect in a larger project.
You have a few different mechanics to help you on your way. Jumping is a bit clunky, but dashing, holding longer to go further works, and also acts as you aggressive attack on the very annoying paper aeroplanes. Parrying seems simple at first, but quickly you learn that you need to parry different objects, allowing you to reset your dash, and make your way to otherwise impossible ledges that I probably missed a good 10 times before finally making it.
This is a really cool project, one you can check out for free on steam, and have a look at the link below in the description. If you beat the game, and have a fastest time, let me know!
