Mixing 2D & 3D Platforming | Neko Ghost Jump Review | Steam New Release
Neko Ghost, Jump! is a platforming game with a bit of a twist. You get to flick between 2D and 3D perspectives and will need to use this ability creatively if you want to succeed and make it through the levels.
Neko Ghost Jump is characterised by fun and bright levels and really fast paced platforming that requires you to repeat levels to achieve objectives to make it to the boss level to progress. Neko ghost jump gameplay is really fun and you can try out this game for yourself on steam early access right now.

Neko Ghost Jump has just hit early access on steam, and this is a quirky platformer that I had the chance to check out the demo, well going back a year or two at least, and I remember it having this really cool boss fight, so I wanted to jump back in, literally and check it out. One of my big queries of Neko Ghost Cat has to be whether or not the, flicking between 2d and 3d perspectives, is integrated into the game in a creative way that turns it into something more than just a gimmick. Well keep watching and we will talk about that a little bit later. If you do like this review, consider subscribing and check out the link to neko ghost jump on steam in the description.
So this neko cat dude here is having a pretty peaceful wedding when all of a sudden some space dog pirates decide now is a good time to invade. so its up to out main guy to try and rescue everyone, including his bride, and it seems the only logical way to do that is to platform through a bunch of different worlds. it's pretty nifty.
Neko Ghost Jump is a classic platformer, paying it's respect to games of the past with 2D block style levels to play through, but also opening up a bunch of different possibilities with 3 kind of unique mechanics. Firstly, we can switch between 2d and 3d perspective, and this works as a barrier, with cleverly designed levels ensuring that you will need to use both to pass walls and obstacles that otherwise could not be accessed. We also have the chance to go ghost most, unlocking a pretty gnarly cat warrior that will allow you to tack out annoying monster that block your way before dashing back to your normal cat. The last mechanic, which seems simple at first, but can be used and abused in cool ways, is the dash, which lets you not only jump over short gaps, but if times correctly, fly through levels at a pretty cool speed.
Worlds follow that mario style of progression. Beat 4 or so levels to make it to the boss, beat the boss to unlock the next world. The only different being that neko ghost world requires you to collect the appropriate amount of paw certificates to unlock the boss levels. How do you get these "paws" I'm glad you asked. Each level has 3 available and you can get them by completing the objectives, and neko ghost jump actually ramps up the difficulty here. Objectives are simple, collect all the coins, find a certain hidden items, or my favourite, the speed run challenge.
Neko Ghost Jump is the perfect game to test out your speed running mechanics, routing is particularly fun as you not only have to work out the quickest way, but also when to switch between 2d and 3d and when to jump or just super dash your way through levels. At the end of each world there is a leader board, and check out IDN on a few, because I think i hit top 3 in two different worlds which was super satisfying.
Each world offers unique enemies and obstacles to play through and I have to say I'm thinking there's a lot more content in neko ghost jump that I was anticipating. Fans who like replaying levels to unlock new technique and strategies will love this game. Those who like a more open world platformer might be worth considering further, and this is very much a level based game without exploration.
Hey I'm a fan, I was on the fence after the demo, but playing this for a few hours, and seeing and working my way through the challenge. I'm right in! Let me know what you think of Neko Ghost Jump!
