I'm a dirty control player at heart and my wheelhouse/comfort zone involves plenty of counterspells, discard and removal! That's why I'm running my Esper control deck back into post rotation standard! The plan is the same as always: interact, interact, interact! We'll use cards like Duress and Poison the Waters to strip key card from our opponents' hands! No More Lies and Three Steps Ahead have got the stack covered, shutting down those game swinging plays! Removal and sweepers like Zero Point Ballad, Day of Judgment and Seam Rip clear out whatever slips through our fusillade of pre battlefield interaction! I'm a fan of cheap powerful threats in my control decks a la Delver of Secrets. Sunset Saboteur fills that role perfectly as a 4 power evasive attacker for only 2 mana! It's ward discard a card ability synergizes perfectly with our resource denial plan that will constantly have our opponents feeling the pinch! The card draw spells are powerful enough that we finally are at the point where we can reliably find the tools we need when we need them, critical to our toolbox gameplan! Consult the Star Charts, Stock Up and Marang River Regent are plentiful enough that we can always dig deep for the pieces we need. Perhaps most importantly, we gain access to shocklands! Watery Grave and Godless Shrine really lift our mana to the next level, making it far easier than before to play our lands untapped when we need to and to generate the colors we need from our verges. I think this is the best the brew has ever looked and it's done great in testing! Let's see how we do in platinum tier!
