Etrian Odyssey III HD: Mapping, Mushroom Events and Venomshroom Fight (Picnic Difficulty)
I am glad people are asking a lot of questions about Etrian Odyssey Trilogy, so I figured I'd make a short for Etrian Odyssey III HD (DS version called the drowned city).
Automap is a misnomer the developers have. In the first part, I goofed about putting the sideways shortcut when it should be vertical, but fortunately these are personal maps. It just does the walls and floors and you'll revisit the dungeons a lot, so this helps a ton to shorten the process (only cartography for landmarks than constantly stop is fun).
Other quality of life includes fast autobattle and picnic difficulty as even basic (Expert difficulty is for masochists) monsters can one shot you, like how I am lucky the venomshroom missed poisoning my party upon dying.
Note that when you're putting in landmarks (you can use a stylus to drag and drop, or go with controls as I did in video) that it will be in empty areas you can't step over (like treasure chests in those areas will be open if you opened but idle closed if you put it at your feet, or open/closed doors based on what you can/can't open).
I did learn shortcuts can be found by checking for repeated walls when strafing as you travel a corridor (facing the side that has already been explored or check each corner helps, though gamefaqs guides for maps are better when retreading b7 and b8 floors). Limit (break) skills are set from tactics to be one per character row, which help vs tougher enemies.
The arrow turns orange (or dark yellow) when you enter from the 2nd side
https://ibb.co/XyVpPBR and then you can go either side if you were unable to the first time, but there are exceptions where you can go to the new area the first time: https://ibb.co/0ftL2CQ
The buccaneer's chase skill needs an eligible skill to work and that monster to survive the attack (stuff that hits multiple enemies may help or if challenging a stronger FOE which appears on the map as a red circle, and people call eFfing Overpowered Enemy). Level it up to attack multiple times for that type, though I admit skill points (and money only from drops) are as stingy as the inanimate enemies.
I have Nahobino and Aigis skins from preordering the 3rd game (I want to try the ship). It's now out, so either buy 1 game, or go on play-asia to pay $70 for all 3 as you won't get dlc ($3 each game) for that $80 digital version.
There's a lot of different classes (and I edited to fit into a short), though I recommend the bandage common skill (one person should have this, mine, pick flowers or chop trees if not a class that can make more money) to heal outside battle that all classes have (primary difference between each game as you'll be mapping with no character depth outside skill trees, so do ask if you'd actually play all 3 similar games before buying the trilogy).
I'd say after B8 to make a farmer into a zodiac (mage) subclass, or monk into farmer if you didn't use one earlier, for many subtle benefits like leaving (no need to waste item space) and gathering.
A guide for EO3 classes is here:

I would also say to buy EO3 if only interested in 1. 1 and 2 have similar classes, with 2 importing some of 1's data, and no ship. Unfortunately I'm noticing that the 7th floor has a ton of backtracking though this ds guide helps:
