Saga Frontier Remastered: Easy way and Hard Way vs Demon Squid (Ft. Dumb Luck Glimmer)
All sorts of crazy subtleties here as I resume froma. rage quit (and grinded at least 70 HP for Asellus).
I didn't learn deflect nor double vertical yet somehow Asellus learned both vs Devil Squid. I would get party wiped until I found a way to not be intuitive about this. I also found better equipment and recommend setting 1 person for the suit of armor with others equipping individual pieces, and to unequip Mesarthim (giving white rose won't have her one shotted by water and Mesarthim has innate water resistance) before she is freed.
(edit: water resistance for maelstrom helps, and I'll keep vid title despite accidentally seeing Demon Squid respawn and block entry for the lulz as you gotta battle, no idea how I won before this vid) This battle was at Lord and I wanted to show that the black mermaid, Mesarthim, is set free and you're teleported out (the villain in the next scene even briefly discusses how White Rose and Asellus have a deeper relationship after, which fortunately isn't heavy handed as a lot of shows, like Harley Quinn, do with LGBT themes to make them one-dimensional caricatures, let alone Asellus is half-mystic from blood transfusion).
Changes from original saga frontier include:
1) Triple Speed for battle and maps (default is double in maps)
2)Fuse tracking characters you finish the game with (this is annoying as you can't start as him)
3) Asellus' story being fleshed out and you have a story tab to help not getting lost though no easy mode (Shrike is even tougher but getting Murakumo sword from Sei's tomb and not placing helps for Asellus' house battle)
4) Autosave (and not being locked to using a whole 15 block ps1 memory card for all the characters that took 2 blocks apiece and 1 for system data).
5)Map Exits, like doors you can leave, have arrows to easily discern things, with even green hearts for inns.
Saga Frontier lets you learn moves mid battle with humans (machines and monsters transform with compatible enemies, and magic needs gifts and bought or innate with humans/mystics, with mystics having new attacks from enemies they kill with mystic equipment base attack), but sometimes you're in over your head and they trigger too little, too late. There are also combination attacks that occur randomly.
Grail card in arcane quest is insane as you get drunk and can get party wiped (Yorkland starting as lute in swamp is death): https://saga.fandom.com/wiki/Arcane_Quest
22:00 in this vid and those stats are higher than mine https://youtu.be/j_U1O5j2GOQ
Similar to octopath traveler 2, with multiple protagonists, your mileage may vary. Lute can finish quickly or die at a wrong turn, and I did a vid earlier showing a censored crash with Red. https://youtu.be/hbsYYUPXDqQ
I also noticed character recruitment is very convoluted, so this guide may help:

You also traverse the same areas a ton (repetitive areas should you play all the characters, 8 like Octopath Traveler games) and it's easy to get lost if you are too weak/vague to go by story.
