TL;DR - dispelling a few myths.

#1. damage amplifier has NO effect
#2. omni track link is not as good as you think
#3. navigation computer is actually very effective
Mining drone specialization increases speed as well. if you boost speed it makes it impossible to bump you effectively in order to steal drones...well, unless the pilot warps off prematurely. it would be very difficult to prevent drones from returning to bay if they're going 1300m/s
I don't need to counter any naysayers since they obviously didn't watch the video's very plain hands on illustration of all three above points.

As for why i think multiple orcas suck
A) you have too much afk time on your hands. a mack has a much too generous ore hold so an orca's is just silly
B) unless you play from work it's pointless for the above reason

D) in an average asteroid belt the average dense veldspar masses 7,500m³. a max skilled orca pilot with max mining rigs has each drone taking in nearly 5m³/sec. so the average AFK time is restricted to an average of 25minutes (say 90% efficiency because of drone transit time and that becomes 28m). it's not like you can be away from keyboard for more than an hour without all your drones becoming idle. This is assuming your average orca pilot isn't a drooling pool of stupidity**, and they actually target more than one roid per drone, and that they at least attempt to get close to all the roids, AND they use drone nav comps. (those are huge IFs)
E) if you're not "at your keyboard" (aka paying attention at least once every 10 minutes) then why are you bothering? you're making a fraction of what you usually do when at keyboard, and why are you playing a game that's essentially a screensaver with a built in chat function when you're not actually paying it any attention? no wonder CCP was extremely lenient back in 2010 when isboxer was given the wink wink nod nod say no more...what's the difference? so, yeah, shame on you guys.
F) 5m³/s * 5 drones = 25 looks great on paper, especially going at 1300m/s, with (if you're doing everything right and all things being equal) 25min afk time to do important work/chores/browsing/biobreaks/etc ...don't be fooled. you're a billion isk walking talking gank pinata, pulling in ~7500isk/sec in high sec asteroid belts (dense veldspar) which will take you 37 man hours to make 1b isk. sounds pretty good, right? "1,000,000,000" always sounds fun, and especially since 500 plex is now able to be bought for 1.3b***...you're supposed to be playing a game having fun, not acting like this game is 'work' because that's what you're doing when you do this to "work for free"
but, yeah, that gets into my amazement rorquals can drone mine better than anything and would lead to a rant about null sec blocs and the airtight seal their lips have on Hilmar's pucker.
