Evergreen is a prequel Cave Story mod by Eli. If you played Cave Story and wanted more, this is one to keep an eye on!

Around the same time I downloaded Evergreen, I tried to get ReShade working with Cave Story for fun. ReShade if you don't know, is a "post-processing injector," allowing you to use various graphical filters on 3D games... (Though might work on 2D with some extra work!)
I spent some time trying the various filters, and chose the ones I liked for Evergreen. I thought it was pretty cool :D (Maybe getting too distracted from focusing on Eli's mod though!) Hope it makes an interesting video and not too distracting.

Btw, the process I'm using to display what you see is like this:
Running Cave Story at the lowest resolution 320x240 or something. Then edited Config.dat with a hexeditor and chose the font I liked at that low resolution... Lucidia Console. (It wasn't showing up as an option.)
Then I used Lossless Scaling (purchased version from Steam) to use the xBR filter to resize x5. And then I used an old version of OBS to preview/capture the screen, and shrink it down using its scaling. THEN I used the free magpie program to scale the image back up with the FSRCNNX filter. Finally I captured that image with the new OBS version.

Beyond and before that, I got ReShade 5.5.0 with full add-ons working with Cave Story using dgVoodoo2 as per the instructions on ReShade's FAQ on older games. I installed dgVoodoo2, configured it; then installed ReShade using the directions... and it worked! (Click performance mode.)

After that, it was a fun process of trying filters and seeing how they looked. I actually didn't customize the filters, just turned them off and on, till I liked what I saw. Originally I had it load a preset with a keypress, for each area in Evergreen... except the loading time was a real pain, each time... So I spent even more time combining all the filters into a single preset. Something like 300 something filters, manually placed in the right order... Needless to say it was a royal pain...
No loading time though! Except for first starting it up and turning all the filters off~

Oh, and I used the modloader to run at 60 fps with one custom song in the mix. I wanted to do more audio editing, but then I realized this is not my mod. D:
I was just having fun with Evergreen because it kicks ass! :D

Anyway, go check out Evergreen if you're interested. It's quite a nice one. I only played the first 1hr and a half and there's more!
