Exodus is a Real Time Strategy game, developed by Polish team Sland Media, and published by Blittersoft in 2000. This originally came on CD, but I bought the ISO image from acp.tpc.de, and patched it with the patches on Amigafuture.de. I completed it, but here are some levels and tips.

I think I bought this game maybe 3 or 4 years ago, while looking for RTS games, and I think I found Napalm around the same time, and Earth 2150. This seemed like it had the best graphics, but perhaps the second best in terms of gameplay. I won the whole game in both scenarios, but never went back to it until 2022.

Just after Christmas 2022, I wanted to record something fun for the series. The theme of the shows was open world 3D and survival, so this kind of fitted in with that dark theme. All my saved games from all of the missions were still on my hard drive, so I selected a few of them and pretended to play them. The point was just to show the basics of the game, and how some of it works, without giving away solutions to the levels; mainly because it would take too long to complete them. I used the CD audio in the review, but when I played the game for real, it was better playing with just the SFX.

Narration was done in the summer, and editing was done in October. The interlace screen mode used in the recording made the final video very large at 32GB. I tried to preserve the image quality but it don't look very good on youtube, and the image quality seems quite blurry when moving.

Danscore:
The later commercial games released after 2000 tended to suffer from being released with bugs. This one has maybe 5 or 6 patches to make it playable, but even then, the challenge is hit and miss. Enemies swarm through weak defences, but after a little planning, this becomes less of an issue until later on in the game, when the enemy send air-drops right on top of your base. Most of the missions begin with a death-match, which needs many retries to get it right. Once you survive that, it's mostly plain sailing. The enemy never attacks with more than a handful of units, and never changes it's attack patterns, so a few ground guns usually mop them up. There are a few unique vehicles; especially boats, TNT guys, liquid metal guys, and repair droids. The long range mortar is also a formidable unit used extensively by the enemy, which can be a nightmare to spot and take out. But they are weak, and repairing the buildings is very cheap. Facing only one enemy until the end of the game also feels weak and cheap, and very few of the levels need to be retried more than once after getting through the initial onslaught. The graphics are great, and the music is thematic enough. I certainly got the most out of the 3 euros I paid for it, and it was definitely a fun game to play, and a joy to beat the enemies. So I'd give this 8 out of 10. That's a bit generous, but it's not hard and it is memorable, just not quite as memorable as Napalm or Dune 2.
