When Ryman Auditorium first opened its doors in 1885, it was merely just a tent revival led by evangelist Sam Jones. Years later, thanks to the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman became the birthplace of bluegrass music and helped country music find a wider audience. It's also the exact place where Johnny Cash met June Carter.
Today, Ryman Auditorium is considered hallowed ground.

Although many prominent named artists performed here. Ryman Auditorium shut its doors in the 1970s when the Grand Ole Opry changed venues, "so we were the home of the opry for thirty-one years and when they left went vacant for nineteen years, almost were torn down." Museum Curator and Touring Manager Joshua Bronnenberg said.

Bronnenberg is glad Ryman Auditorium reopened in 1994 as a tourist attraction and concert venue, adding that this place is a bucket list for many who grew up with the opry.

For country music artist Ryan Hurd, his first visit to Ryman Auditorium was to see Wilco and Jeff Tweedy. "I think it’s pretty tough to beat the Ryman. I mean, anytime you get into this room and hear any sort of music it’s, there’s nothing like it." Hurd said.

Named Theatre of the Year from 2010 through 2015, Ryman Auditorium continues to immortalize its bluegrass past while at the same time celebrating all genres, people, and backgrounds.
