F1 2002 (2002) - Every PC F1 Game
F1 2002 by ISI/Electronic Arts, 2002.
The positives over F1 2001 was a generally more realistic looking environment, with subtle fog being added and improved lighting. Unfortunately the game has a maximum resolution of 1600x1200, whereas F1 2001 allowed higher resolutions than that. It can be hacked to higher resolutions, but out of the box, this was the best it could do!
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 The lighting here is a bit darker and more realistic looking than F1 2001, Although the trees shadows aren't as defined.
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:36 Rain drops are much less noticeable in F1 2002, whilst the spray effect from cars is much less white and more see-through, strangely. The wet tyre tracks behind cars are also a lot shorter.
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:53 The lighting is a bit different to F1 2001, I think the time of day is different, certainly the sun is casting different shadows!
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:10 There's not a huge difference to F1 2001, in terms of rain. There is some rudimentary lightning effects, but the rain drops are reduced in size. The LCD screen on the steering wheel was lit up in F1 2001, but isn't here, presumably that's more realistic.
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:29 The track is much lighter in F1 2002 than F1 2001.The pitstop itself is nigh-on identical to F1 2001 though, with an instant front wing change!
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:44 If you compare this to F1 2001, you'll see the grass and gravel textures are greatly improved, but also the join between them is now smooth/blurred, instead of a hard cut line. As with F1 2001, impressive crashes are possible, as here I cause two cars to flip!
