Factorio Cellular Megabase - Ep1 - Herringbone!
282In this episode, we give a basic overview of the design concept for a megabase we'll be designing and building, based on the idea of "cells". We'll have multiple types of cells: mining, science, solar, etc. that we can stamp out to add capacity to the base. The twist is that each cell will *also* produce the components necessary to build another cell of that type, "reproducing" in a sense.
The remainder of this episode is spent laying out the main rail system, based on a herringbone pattern with interleaved vertical and horizontal "bricks". This system is snap-to-grid, to allow for easy placement, and uses exclusively 3-way intersections to minimize congestion through them.
