Fallout 3 Playthrough (No Commentary) Broken Steel DLC: Part 4 (All Side Quests) Last Part
Now that the main story of Broken Steel is done, it's time to tackle all of the side quests available to us. There arenโt a lot of them and can be done in about half an hour, but some of them were genuinely interesting.
First of all, we deal with the cult around Megaton, you can stop them diplomatically and not need to kill any of them, but I honestly felt like it would be better to just blow their heads off.
Let me explain why, they stole precious pure water from the nearby town who depend on it for survival. They irradiated it with the intention of distributing it to as many people as possible and turning them into ghouls, risking the lives of innocent people desperate to quench their thirst while running perfectly good water in the process. And not once did it occur to them that what they were doing was wrong in any way before we got involved.
While I do not believe people like this should be put to death under normal circumstances, instead they should get psychological help so they understand the gravity of what they are doing. However, since we are in a post-apocalypse wasteland, that isnโt an option. Even if you were to make them realize their error and let them go, what's to stop them from deluding themselves into another cult like it in the future?
With all of this in mind, I think just taking them down permanently is the better option in the long run. even if i admit it's not my glorious choice.
The bandits around Rivet city are a no-brainer so weโll skip explaining that one that one, as well as the naughty garments thing.
That leaves us with the snake oil ghoul, cheating people of their money (hard earner or otherwise) is usually not cool in my book. But it hardly compares to selling pure water to raiders and slavery, people whose lives consist of stealing, killing or enslaving unlucky survivors. Sure, maybe not every raider/slaver is an inhuman monster and only does it to survive, but even so. the more resources they get, the more people are needlessly killed or enslaved.
As for the ghoul selling the fake water, you could either blackmail him for some caps or convince him to sell the other ghouls real water. But I think some wasteland mob justice is what he deserves for his bullshit.
Wow, I sure went into great detail into my moral choice of a few quests didnโt i? Probably the few people who put so much thought into this. Anywho, time for the next DLC.
In this part: We finish the DLC by helping a dubious member of the BoS by dealing with cults, bandits and a ghoul snake oil salesman (even though ghoul was working for him).
