Fallout 4 [Gameplay #6] - Lock and Load
0A lot of critics argue that, despite being a substantial improvement upon Fallout 3's dodgy shooter mechanics, the FPS combat in Fallout 4 simply isn't any good. While it's true that there's a jarringly weightless feeling to the weapon impact in particular, I find myself enjoying the combat a lot and especially appreciate that the enemies are often (though far from always) pretty good at taking cover at the appropriate times and outflanking the player whenever possible. During my somewhat rushed playthrough of the main storyline I struggled quite a lot on my chosen difficulty level (Hard), but after having unlocked more perks and acquired better gear it's been satisfying to both feel a tangible sense of empowerment and discover that the tougher foes can still put up a fight against my character some 50+ hours into the game.
