Fallout Tactics - The Playthrough: Mission 9 - Jefferson (Video No.11)
A playthrough of Fallout Tactics, the third title of the Fallout game franchise that came out in 2001. While a "Fallout" game, Fallout Tactics is considered non-canon in the Fallout franchise established by the numbered titles, though some parts of the story told by the Brotherhood of Steel focused game have been integrated into the storyline as suggested in Fallout 3.
After suffering heavy losses in St. Louis against super mutants, the Brotherhood continues its battle on another front in the ruins of a city known as Jefferson. Despite sending well-trained covert operation agents, the super mutants were able to ambush the Brothers before they could complete their assessment of Jefferson. Though losses were sustained before the Warrior and his squad had entered the equation, intelligence reports suggest the super mutants had set up some sort of permanent base in the area as they have multiple power generators up and running, sending large amounts of electricity to a building that the Brotherhood suspected to be a weapons manufacturing plant. What other use would super mutants have for technology?
The Warrior and his squad pick up an abandoned scouter vehicle and battle their way past the super mutant defenses, destroying the power generators as they went. While the super mutants defenses were formidable, nothing about what they encountered in Jefferson suggested there was any kind of weapon production happening and it was unclear what the power was being used for.
When they finally get past the final defenses and into the last building, they discovered that the super mutants were performing research on a cure for mutations. Apparently they were hoping to undo the mutations that turned them into super mutants and return to being normal humans again.
Following orders, the Warrior and his squad destroyed all the power generators, disabling the "medical research" facility. However, the Brotherhood saw no reason for the work to go to waste and decided to take the equipment back with them for the scribes to work with. General Dekker, ever prudent, explained that the potential for a cure for mutations could prove to be a powerful bargaining chip in the future when dealing with mutants.
