This theme is a very action-oriented theme. It first appeared in Super Metroid as a standard 'Boss' theme (played during the battle with Dragoon, played during Ridley's battle, played during escape sequences), but gradually became Ridley's official theme song. It's hard to find any game that DOESN'T use this theme.
For this Famitracker Bits version, I decided to try making it without extensions. You're hearing a lot of plucking bass throughout, decided to play with that a bit. I wanted to go for the GB/GBC style of boss music (ex: Wario Land 2-3), which means I had to keep the extensions down. Also the percussion gets crazier than ever, holy crap.
Also, the Game Boy mix was done at 11025 Hz using 8-bit samples. Just because why not? (For reference, I usually use 44100 Hz using 16-bit samples, used them for the NES mix)
Not much to say about this theme otherwise, besides that arranging the track for 80 frames per row is a pain. 5/4 is a weird tempo. :|
