My units can take either the west path or the south path to reach the throne. The west path is shorter and easier so that's the route Hector is gonna take with competent fighters.

However there is also Guy who must be recruited by Matthew, and it is faster to do so by taking the south path. Since there are a lot of enemies on this path, Marcus is sent to take care of them without much trouble.

Once this is done, Matthew can go speak to Guy while Marcus reach the boss right in time to allow Hector to seize on turn 5. Guy is a Myrmidon with good stats thanks to the hard mode bonus (he got 8 Str and 13 Spd instead of 6 and 11), but we will use him as little as possible because by the end of chapter 26, we want the 4 first magic units (Serra, Erk, Priscilla and Lucius) to have gained more Exp than the first 4 fighter units (Dorcas, Bartre, Guy and Raven), and anyway his 5 Move 8 Str will soon not be good enough to stay on the deployed team.

Among the things that can go wrong, there is Marcus not killing at least one of the Archers on turn 1 (he has ~58% chance of ORKO them), Guy getting a crit on Marcus (27% chance) which will most likely lead to Marcus' death, Guy dying (~3% chance due to the awful accuracy of the Bandits) or even Marcus not killing the boss (4% chance).
