After enjoying the VR bullet time & VR slow motion shooting chaos of Hard Bullet earlier this week I started thinking about other games with great slow motion mechanics, that brought me to F.E.A.R (or FEAR or First Encounter Assault Recon) an FPS, horror, action game that released in 2005 and definitely deserves a VR remake/re-release! However after the lukewarm reception of the F.E.A.R sequels a fully fledged F.E.A.R VR seems like a pipe dream so we'll have to rely on Vorpx & a Vorpx profile to get this working for now... The good news is F.E.A.R VR gameplay feels incredibly fresh & breathes life into this 16 year old game in ways I genuinely didn't expect, Will it VR? Lets find out!

An official F.E.A.R VR game / F.E.A.R VR mod / FEAR VR mod feels like something we'll never truly see, nothing is impossible but we're so far removed from the last entry into this horror series now that it's pretty safe to assume we won't be seeing it again any time soon. However the original holds up exceptionally well and when hooked to a FEAR Vorpx profile this game is absolutely reborn. Sharp visuals, great geometry 3D, an adjustable HUD, smooth head tracking & gameplay mechanics that hold up beautifully all these years later come together to make F.E.A.R a great virtual reality experience in Vorpx. I'm finding that older games tend to work a little better with the Vorpx software, they are a bit easier to bend and adapt meaning you can usually get a far cleaner result after a little bit of tinkering in menus.

This F.E.A.R VR gameplay / FEAR VR gameplay was captured using an Oculus Quest 2 PC link setup & Vorpx (Vorpx is a piece of software which converts flat screen games into 3D VR experiences, with varying degrees of success, check out my Will it VR playlist to discover the very best Vorpx games). This footage was captured using a Quest 2 but the game is not available natively on the headset, this requires a PC & paid copy of Vorpx to achieve these results.
