Welcome to all fans of Final Fantasy IX,

This video presents a "non-Excalibur II perfect game" challenge, intended for the NTSC PS1 version of FF9.

A "non-Excalibur II perfect game" challenge consists basically of not obtaining Excalibur II through speedrun but "maximizing" everything else, while still retaining the possibility of obtaining the sword via the timer's overflow.

The first part of the video details the main requirements of the challenge (from 00:10 to 11:25), while the second part (from 11:25 to 24:12) shows the content of a save file in which I "reasonably" finished the challenge (meaning the characters training, the items maximization and reaching 1700 Tetra Master points are done; ending truly the challenge requires thousands more hours).

The last part of the video, that starts at 24:12, shows the content of an old save file from the previous challenge, and provides hardware info.

By the way, here is a link of a let's play of a similar challenge, that is more in line with the idea that I currently have of the "offensive training" approach of max stats:

Corrections/updates:
* EDIT AUG 22 (major):
In the Items optimization criterion "2" At 06:50, I forgot the fact that the damage of the Throw command is increased against flying enemies like Veteran, which makes Save the Queen "relevant" to use with the Throw command in that it allows Amarant to one-shot Veteran if Power Throw is equipped and his Strength is optimized.This means that Save the Queen must be maximized at the expense of Silver Gloves and Javelin, and therefore the numbers of those items in the "final items state" appearing at 07:00 become:
99 copies of Save the Queen, 2 Javelins and 2 copies of Silver Gloves.
* EDIT AUG 22 (major):
Despite what I wrote in the last paragraph at 06:50, I decided to rehabilitate the concept of "final equipment" consisting in keeping some "missable" items permanently equipped.
I would thus instruct to keep 101 copies of Thief Gloves, and at least 101 Green Berets and Bandanas until making the "final save".
* EDIT AUG 22 (minor):
In the last paragraph at 06:50, the mention that I should have carried 100 Octagon Rods and 100 Magic Rackets from Disc 3 to Disc 4 must be ignored, because Vivi must change weapon in Disc 4 in order to learn Doomsday, and I forgot that Magic Racket is not among the items that are not available in Disc 4. I should have mentionned items like Green Beret and Bandana instead like mentioned few lines above.
* EDIT AUG 22 (minor):
At 02:47, I forgot to mention the monsters in Crystal World among the monsters against which you cannot get a preemptive strike.
