Welcome,

This video presents a "non-Excalibur II Perfect Game" challenge for the game Final Fantasy IX.
Thie video concerns however the oldest version (V1), that has been updated three times in the meanwhile:
'V2' updates:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8Au8JfRiS0
'V3' updates:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKjXvACzL6g
'V4' updates:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbM3o-gC6FE

Latest available version of the Excel guide (V4):
https://www.mediafire.com/file/z5pkkuw03osdnl8

The V2, V3 and V4 updates do not invalidate the walkthrough presented in this video and what starts at 00:52 can still be followed, since these updates add options rather than correcting important elements (apart from arrows allocation in Tetra Master), but I recommend now ignoring everything related to battles and everything related to Disc 4 in this video, in addition to taking into account the updates.

V2 updates' summary:
* "Minimum" rule removal, making in particular carrying the two letters "Kuppo to Kupo" and "Mogki to Kumool" undelivered not mandatory anymore, and making possible to score more than 226 in the festival, and any high score in Hot & Cold;
* Tetra Master's criteria replacement (replaced again in the V3 updates), so that two Namingway cards are needed in Disc 3, one with 7 arrows and one with 6;
* Addition of 2 new options of items maximization (of which one consists of obtaining a 10th Promist Ring);
* Addition of an alternate option/approache of training for Concepts X and Y (arrange just to keep Amarant at level 1 until Disc 4 then check all the trainings contained in the Excel file or the 2019 video).

V3 updates' summary:
* Tetra Master's criteria replacement;
* Replacement of Quina's training in Concept Y (results not impacted);
* Addition of info about an alternate method to "farm" Gils using the turbo controller;
* Replacement of the recommended method to farm APs in Disc 3.

V4 updates' summary:
* Addition of a fourth concept, that I named 'Concept &'.
* Making the PAL versions valid for the challenge.
* Replacement of the moment and location regarding the main Protect Rings farming.
* Addition of a method of frogs ponds visiting to catch more frogs.

What follow are complementary info (taking into account the latest updates) that can replace the info from 01:02 to 01:10.
* List of actions that it is forbidden to do until reaching specific points in Disc 4:
- Obtaining the Silver Gloves in Lindblum's synthesis shop.
- Buying the Thief Gloves in the auction.
- Obtaining the Javelin and the Air Racket in Ipsen's Castle.
* List of actions to never do:
- Gaining EXP points if it is not listed as a mandatory or recommended action.
- Losing/synthesizing/selling items in general if not indicated (except the curative ones), as well as removing an item that the guide orders to keep equipped.
- Killing a Tonberry monster (Concept Z).
- Using a summon ability (Concept Z).
- Giving a Moonstone to the friendly Feather Circle (Concept Z).
- Giving a Emerald to the friendly Jaberwock (Concept Z; "Items Option 2").
* In addition to this, there are several actions that it is not really forbidden to do, but that I highly recommend to never do until the creation of a "final save" (meaning at least after obtaining Excalibur II), in order to delay some decisions indefinetly, like the choice of the items maximization options, the training approache/options, or the Tetra Master criteria (you need to check the 2020 video or simply the latest version of the Excel guide for more details). As an example, I highly recommend to not obtain the Rank S and to not discard one of the two Namingway cards in possession, in order to be able to delay the choice of a Tetra Master criterion until the creation of a final save.

What follows is a summary of items amounts to carry from early discs until Disc 4 (shops/auctions items only):
* Before entering Gizamaluke's Grotto: 100 Javelins.
* Before leaving summit station: 100 copies of Silver Gloves and 99 Iron Helms.
* Before leaving Gargan Roo: 100 Air Rackets.
* Before entering Desert Palace: 9 Promist Rings (for "Items Option 3" only) and 100 Mythril Swords.
* Before entering Terra: 99 copies of Sargatanas, Diamond Sword, Flame Saber, Rune Blade, Trident, Heavy Lance, Obelisk, Mythril Claws, Scissor Fangs, Asura's Rod, Fairy Flute, Hamelin, Octagon Rod, Silver Fork, Diamond Gloves, Bandana, Green Beret, Black Hood, Leather Plate, Chain Plate, Judo Uniform, Silk Robe, Gold Armor and Diamond Armor, 100 copies of Zorlin Shape, Tiger Fangs and Thief Gloves, 104 Mythril Vests in Concepts X and Z (or 103 in Concept Y), and 203 copies of "Power Belt + Chain Mail" for "Items Options 1 and 2" (or 200 only for "Items Option 3").

Corrections/remarks regarding this video follow (no more annotations):
28:03 Do not get the Air Racket in Ipsen's Castle if Priest's Racket is not synthesized yet.
36:23 After the irreversible operations shown, you must remaximize several items to obtain the inventory shown.
