-Has the imperial palace changed in the art on the in-game map, or did it always look like that same spiky three-pronged tower?

-I like the touch of having the imperials at their camp not talk to me.

-I get the strategy of Quintus not letting us go back since we could (in his eyes) just report their position and attack, but it still seems like a major breach of diplomatic etiquette.

-At least (???) he only put shock collars around the twins so they can walk around the camp relatively freely.

-There seems to be a fundamental Garlean misunderstanding of the value of unity, both from Quintus here and Varis before the Ghimlyt Dark. They say, "if you want peace and unity, why not just join Garlemald?"

I think the key difference is that we see unity is a tool that can be useful in some cases towards the ultimate end of peace and happiness. Submitting would bring unity, but Garlemald has proven it's rule is antithetical to its subjects feeling peaceful and happy.

Garlemald views unity as a NECESSARY tool to peace and happiness. Its ceiling of what counts as "peace and happiness" is pretty low, but based on its historical context I think it views these concepts as meaning "free from the threat of being conquered by outside parties." After all, if you're all within Garlemald, there ARE no outside parties to conquer you. Wherever you go, you're home.
