【FFXIV】4.X Monk ~ Openers & Tips (Old)
UPDATED MONK OPENER - http://ffxivrotations.com/1xq2
Openers and rotations are subject to change due to more information being found at a later date.
Yo what's up guys! Sorry that I removed the last video( ≧Д≦)! It had an outdated opener in it (thanks to Rien for pointing it out!) and I didn't want to spread misinformation around. However I will add it as a bonus '4th' opener below in the FFXIVRotation links section. Anyways, I've had more time to mess around on the dummy and in PF so this video finalizes the 4.X melee opener series!
Updated versions of each opener (as well as new or better openers):
(UPDATED) Opener #4 - http://ffxivrotations.com/ulq (Highest PPS)
Opener #1 - http://ffxivrotations.com/u89 (Under 2:30 Highest PPS)
Opener #2 - http://ffxivrotations.com/u8d
Opener #3 (Early BH + Sim Lucky Procs) - http://ffxivrotations.com/u8p (Good for RDPS)
These openers are BASIC and you'll usually change certain things around on a fight to fight basis.
[Tips & Notes]
Party Buff chart (made by Kaladin) - http://i.imgur.com/kdmLAxN.png
If there is a striking dummy fight (A9S/Zurvan) or if you can rub up to the boss you can hold Shoulder Tackle and use it after Steel Peak depending on the fight duration. However you might lose a Shoulder Tackle doing this to prevent this you can also use it as your first attack oGCD instead of Elixir Field if you would get an extra usage out.
On a basic level use everything on cooldown! Due to the timers on Monk abilities naturally allign themselves. You can ignore this rule once you start optimizing things.
Don't use Internal Release before Bootshine as it is a PPS loss.
If abilities like Elixir Field and Howling Fist will hit more than 1 target before the period where it would come up again after using it immediately hold them if it's a RDPS increase.
You can hold Brotherhood slightly if it'll be a DPS increase for the other party members.
Brotherhood timings will depend on party composition. You want it to coincide with their burst windows and get it to come back off CD ASAP.
Use The Forbidden Chakra on CD unless RoF or IR is coming up within 10secs.

Tips from Rien Doll (Creator of the most up to date opener)
You should mostly do RoF+IR rather than IR+RoF, or else you'll lose a 7th GCD under IR in most cases. Using infusion after DK will also require fey wind/higher SKSP or very minimal clipping to reapply your third demolish before the infusion falls off.
RoF seems best used after twin; most openers i've seen have been starting off their first RoF GCD with a partially unbuffed twin snakes, where if you use it before true, you get the strongest GCD sequence under it. Using it any sooner than that would also just delay DK/twin on autos.
Effective GCDs under IR is something to consider with how important chakra procs are. A lot of openers i've seen going around will also only get 6 effective GCD under it and end after a guaranteed crit bootshine.
Infusion still seems best used after DK, with the caveat of needing the aforementioned low latency/fey wind to snapshot your third Demolish.
If 6th does end up being the preferred timing then it's worth mentioning you'll lose the first TFC under trick, but can still manage two TFC under it depending on resets anyway. Pushing things back further to compensate for trick seems like a sketchy concept with TFC resets making things dynamic and the risk of sitting on chakra procs in a high crit rate opener.
Under brotherhood or at 4/5 chakra in general it's important to spam TFC mid GCD so TFC doesn't get delayed an extra GCD and possibly lose you a chakra proc on the next GCD/an extra TFC under a cd window; 4 TFC RoF is possible if they're all used asap.
Demo positional on pull is also more reliable in some cases without shoulder tackle's animation locking and the availability of sprint.
Thanks to Tiffany Lockheart, Jethred Radulfr, Unhoeflich Barost and Rien Doll! (ノ^∇^)
