【FFXIV】4.X Ninja ~ Openers & Tips (Old)

I made this little video to help you Ninjas get your feet wet! In this video there are four basic openers. Below are the updated rotations listed in the video.

These openers are BASIC and you'll usually change certain things around on a fight to fight basis.

Using TCJ to set up trick attack is mostly always better than using it during the Trick Attack effect. For example TCJ Fuma ► Raiton ► Suiton ► Trick Attack. When setting up Trick Attack Raiton then TCJ You're trading 180 potency + 5 seconds worth of AA/GCDin TA for 10% on 1713.6, which is roughly 172 potency, so 8 potency + 22 + 50 potency gain from doing Raiton into TCJ vs Suiton + TA into TC
Assuming no personal buffs are up when using TCJ Fuma ► Katon ► Doton is stronger than Fuma ► Raiton ► Suiton only IF you get the full duration of Doton ticks on the boss if you miss one F ► R ► S is better
. If buffs are up due to the nature of Doton not snapshotting buffs if your potion will hit Raiton (and Suiton for a bonus) F ► R ► S will come out to more potency (Unconfirmed).
In my opinion if you can use Suiton prepull and still get your Trick Attack off after your 5th GCD with no problems and your TCJ is on time you should do that. Due to fluctuating ping it's safer to use it after your 1st GCD however. However once you start getting into higher SKS you'll need to Suiton after 1st GCD if you don't use the Bhaka opener.
Always try to use Dream Within a Dream under your Trick Attack window.
The highest PPS opener for a Ninja out of these rotations is the 5th GCD delayed Trick. However the higher PPS for Raid DPS is the 6GCD one.
Using Shukuchi to open a fight is almost always a DPS loss due to the animation lock.
Your Ninki ability rotation should be TCJ ► Bhavacakra ► Frog ► Bhavacakra ►TCJ repeat. Assuming there are no breaks/interruptions in the fight.
At a basic level you still want to use Duality on CD even if it's not under your Trick Attack. This is ignored once you start optimizing fights however.
For the High SKS opener if you can use Trick Attack before Duality and still get off Raiton under Trick then do that. However its more DPS to get that Raiton in instead of Duality so if you can't don't bother.
Another reason Suiton is used midrotation is for TCJ. If you have good ping/higher SKS then your TCJ might not be available when you want it.
If using Infusions use them at the start (where Jugulate is in some openers) if using old pots use them where Jugulate is in the middle of the openers)
Raiton and Fuma are interchangeable depending on ping.
It is very important to check how many GCDs + AAs you lose in a TCJ. I have about 80 ping and I lose 2 GCDs + 2 AAs in a 3 mudra TCJ. If you lose more than that, you should execute a 2 mudra TCJ instead.
