Fighting Pollution: Have Govts Done Enough To Curb The Menace? | India Development Debate
518 of the 20 most polluted cities in the world are in India, and Delhi has consistently been the most polluted city in the world for years. And come winter, pollution is most likely to be the biggest issue in the national capital and surrounding regions again. Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav has expressed concerns that the next 40 days are crucial for the region. The union minister today held a meeting with various stakeholders to address issues that contribute to air pollution. But the issue is not new, authorities have been faced with the same challenge for years. The big question is: are they doing enough to keep pollution in check? Winter is coming, but is it going to be better for the residents of these regions this year? What can governments, residents, and other stakeholders do to improve the situation this time around and sustain it for the future? These are the big questions today in the India Development Debate.
