4Morgan Stanley expects to see a rebound in India’s rural economy on the back of wider reopening, improving labor market conditions, and improving terms of trade. Government policy measures such as a focus on infra spending and increasing support for agriculture will help to improve the structural outlook.
According to the high-frequency data, this improvement has been led by a lower unemployment rate in rural areas, recovering two-wheeler sales, increasing growth of credit to the agricultural sector, and early signs of stabilization in terms of trade.
Bolstered by the robust trend in rural data, the brokerage is bullish on stocks like Bajaj Electricals, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, Dabur, AU Small Finance Bank, M&M Finance, L&T, and UltraTech Cement.
