Fighting Vipers 2 - Arcade Model 3 - Intro & attract, playthrough as Bahn [UHD 4K]
Full longplay / playthrough / walkthrough / gameplay / guide of the arcade version of Fighting Vipers 2 by Sega, first off the performance of recent Supermodel builds isn't great and older builds run far fast. However the most recent version clears up most of the graphics bugs, apart from the opening intro. One of the reasons for the frame rate drops is one of the processors for the hardware isn't being emulated at present. The arcade original used the Sega Model 3 Step 2.0 hardware.
We covered the Dreamcast version some years back and even did a test 4K video at the time. As Fighting Vipers 2 is a game that really needs that higher YouTube bitrate. With a recent commenter mentioning that that Tokio was missing the 3D museum exhibits in his Museum background, we decided to take a look. Turns out it is partly cut from the Dreamcast version, as the exhibits are 2D until a player is kicked into one at the end of the match. Emi stage Armstrong Town burning is also cut with the 3D grate on the floor removed and some of the background lighting to show the town on fire, also taken out. Picky stages has been heavily altered with the platform no longer flying through the 3D city, instead it is only seen in the far distance above the water. Candy/Honey's stage also has different buildings in the background.
Largely it seems the changes are related to the backgrounds only, suggesting frame rate issues or a tight deadline that meant some aspects weren't finished before release. There are likely plenty of other changes as this is just our finding after one quick playthrough of the arcade version. Our Dreamcast video can be seen here and the short answer is it's not arcade perfect by a long shot: https://youtu.be/KqXouGkmc9Y
Oh and B.M. The boss is a hugely annoying fight, due to his overpowered nature.
