3D Dot Game Heroes - PlayStation 3 - Intro & Gameplay first dungeon and boss (Zelda Clone) [4K]
Chances are you have never heard of 3D Dot Game Heroes by Silicon Studio and this game is a brilliant and humorous homage to The Legend of Zelda and Dragon Quest on the NES and games from that era. Published by FromSoftware in Japan it allows you to create your own 3D hero or use one of the pre-designed ones to travel around Dotnia and save the kingdom. Fans of FromSoftware will recognise some of the available characters from previous FromSoftware title. No doubt a lot of budding artists will make their hero look like a certain character called Link.
If you ever wanted to play a game just like the original Zelda on NES on PS3 3D Dot Game Heroes is the game for you. The opening intro even jokes about upgrading the kingdom from 2D to 3D. Expect lots of jokes aimed at the classic RPG format with massive swords, crazy quests and more NPCs than you can shake a stick at. This is a true gem that largely went unnoticed on release and we expect that to change with Silicon Studio better know for Bravely Default these days. This is a legend of a game that you might want to pick up now while it's still cheap before the price hiking on ebay starts.
We cover up to the end of the first dungeon complete with boss in this video. Performance wise the game seems to be frame locked at 30fps. The Japanese version got three character DLC that were largely included in the western release. However the North America version got a additional patch that added in Sackboy and many other fan made character and patched a number of issues. This patch was never release in PAL.
