This 2013 PC port of The Bitmap Brothers classic is largely an unaltered version of the Amiga A1200 AGA release with added lighting effects and online play. The Chaos Engine also released under the name of Soldiers of Fortune in some North American conversions. Is a top down co-op sci-fi shooter very much styled after Gauntlet.
If you were an Amiga owner in the 90s you would have almost certainly have owned a copy. A timeless classic from the The Bitmap Brothers our only complaint would be the lack of end of world bosses. For modern gamers this Steam port is the best way to play this classic, even if there are some audio timing issues present in this version with some of the music and sound effects being not quite right, which may well put off some gamers from picking it up.
Grab your guns it's time for the Navvie, Thug, Brigand, Mercenary, Gentleman and Preacher to brave the chaos once again. Now all we need is a modern console release of this and some of the other Bitmap Brothers titles. The Amiga CD32 featured an animated intro which didn't quite work as well as the original intro and The Chaos Engine received a late Amiga sequel in 1996.
