Final Doom - The Plutonia Experiment (Doomsday Engine) playthrough Part 3
Not a whole lot extra to say today. The levels are stating to focus more on traps, teleporting enemies behind you and surrounding you. I dislike that. It creates situations of massive damage that the player just can't avoid because they can't move. It means that you need to know the trap is coming, trigger it, and get out of the way quickly. That, in my opinion, isn't the best design. Players should be able to react, not need to be precognizant.
Other than that, the levels are absolutely beautiful. A lot of really good little details, and a few minor points that don't quite work to me. Even some tricks I didn't know about with map making, such as the door that half opened after the first of two buttons. Good trick there! I love seeing workarounds like that, things that make the engine do what it wasn't designed to. Very high quality maps in this expansion. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
