Quake II Mission Pack: Ground Zero (Yamagi) playthrough Part 1
Here we are once again in this expansion that just doesn't seem to want me to play it. The second, and final, official mission pack for Quake II, Ground Zero. Once again made by Rogue Software, who made Dissolution of Eternity for Quake 1, and Strife, the RPG using the Doom engine.
I made it through the first hub in the game today, with the brightness cranked way up to be able to see anything. I had to use a source port, Yamagi Quake II to pull it off. But now I can actually see the game. So I can focus more on other elements of it. I'm still not a fan so far, the extra weapons aren't properly bound to keys (they should have the default .cfg file set up for them but it only has the normal weapons) so you have to scroll through your weapons to get to them. And that's made doubly annoying thanks to the in-game configuration only having next weapon, and not previous. Fortunately, the engine itself can handle it, and editing the .cfg file set it up. I also showed that you can edit your bindings right from the game using the command console (default key `). That's a core Quake II thing, and honestly, I wish more games had that anymore. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
