Previously, the party stopped the Tower of Babil's cannons from bombarding the Dwarves, but they lost Yang in the process. Cid helped the party escape the tower. Sadly, they lost him, too, when they escaped to the surface. At Baron Castle, they got a hook installed on the Enterprise so they can now carry the Hovercraft around. Then, they explored Eblan Castle on the southwestern island. Now, they will explore the Cave of Eblan, which leads to the upper part of the Tower of Babil.
Overworld:
The party resumes near Eblan Castle on the southwest island. The party takes the Hovercraft across island's the southern shoals and enters the Cave of Eblan in the southwest.
Cave of Eblan (time 0:59):
The party starts on floor B1 of the Cave of Eblan.
Through a hidden passage east of the entrance, a chest contains a Shuriken. Through another hidden passage to the east, a chest contains a Remedy.
Rosa reaches Level 38 and learns the White Magic spell Float. Float will be very useful for avoiding damage floors in the Sylph Cave and the Passage of the Eidolons. Cecil reaches Level 40 and learns the White Magic spell Raise.
A chest in the southeast corner contains a Vampire Fang.
Kain reaches Level 41.
Rydia reaches Level 39.
The southwest exit leads the party to the refugee base of Eblan on B2.
The sundries shop in the inn sells a selection of status restoratives. The party grabs some more Mallets and Diet Rations. The inn itself is overpriced at 700 gil.
The end table between the inn counter and the nearest bed contains a Ninja Sutra. Eblan and its periodicals.
The weapons and armor shops have little that is necessary. The party does pick up a quiver of Poison Arrows for Rosa.
In the western bedroom, a pot near the entrance contains a Potion. At the western fireplace, the party finds a hidden Potion. Such rare and amazing things to find at this stage of the game!
Eblan's Seneschal has information about Eblan's prince. Let's hope His Highness has not gotten in over his head!
The northwest exit leads to the Cave of Eblan - First Passage. Look out for the bats; their Bloodfeast animation is designed to bore the player to death.
Just east of the entrance, a chest in the southwest contains an Ether.
To the north, a chest in the northwest contains a Tent.
A secret passage south of the Tent chest leads southeast to another chest, which contains a Hi-Potion.
The party takes the northwest exit to the Second Passage.
Rosa reaches Level 39.
In the north-central part of the Second Passage, a chest contains a Bomb Core.
Cecil reaches Level 41.
The party takes the south-central exit back to the First Passage.
Just southwest of the north-central entrance, a chest contains a Hi-Potion. The two chests just to the east contain a Hi-Potion and a Cottage.
A secret passage to the east leads to a small chamber with two chests. Each contains an Elixir.
In the southern passage, a chest to the west contains a Spider Silk.
The three chests in the southeast corner contain two Phoenix Downs and a Silver Hourglass.
The party takes the northeast door back to the Second Passage.
Just to the northwest of this entrance, a chest contains a Shuriken. On the plateau to the north, another chest contains a Gold Needle.
Kain reaches Level 42.
Just northeast of the entrance, the party finds a save room. East of the save point, a hidden passage leads to a chest. It contains a Blood Sword guarded by two Steel Golems. The possibility of getting a set of Giant's Gloves is worth the effort, but the Blood Sword is not.
After the battle, Rydia reaches Level 40. She learns the Black Magic spell Firaga and the Bardsong Hastemarch.
In the northeast of the Second Passage, a scene takes place as the party approaches two figures. One is Edge, the Prince of Eblan. The other is Rubicante, the elemental archfiend of fire. Edge soon learns that it is not a good idea to challenge an elemental archfiend solo! After Rubicante leaves, Edge decides to join the party. We now have the final five, though some things will happen before the current lineup becomes permanent.
The description is continued in the comments.
