Previously, Heorot continued training in Yhoator Jungle and has reached Level 50 as Red Mage. Level 50 is the starting level limit. To increase it, he must carry out a level limit side quest.

Heorot resumes at his Mog House in Bastok. He receives some money from the auction house in his delivery box. Before leaving, he withdraws a Goblin Mask from storage.

Bastok Mines (time 1:19):

Goblin Masks themselves do not sell on NPC shops. However, they can be desynthesized. Under Synthesis, you can select a Wind Crystal and a Goblin Mask to break it down into a square of Sheep Leather with Leathercraft. You can also select a Lightning Crystal and a Goblin Mask to break it down into Grass Fibers with Alchemy. However, the latter requires a higher skill level. Heorot uses a Wind Crystal on the Goblin Mask to get Sheep Leather.

Then, he heads back into the Residential Area.

Mog House (time 2:14):

Heorot does a little more inventory management. Then, he heads back out.

Bastok Mines (time 2:44):

Heorot visits Neigepance at the Chocobo Stables to sell off his Sheep Leather. Then, he teleports to Bastok Markets.

Bastok Markets (time 3:50):

Heorot visits Karine at H-9. He picks up the Map of the Eldieme Necropolis, the Map of the Garlaige Citadel, and the Map of the Crawlers' Nest for 3,000 gil apiece. The first level limit quest will take Heorot to each of these three dungeons, which are in the zones surrounding Jeuno.

Then, Heorot teleports to Windurst Waters.

Windurst Waters (time 6:03):

Heorot goes to the roof of the Opistery in the northern part of Windurst Waters. There, he talks to Churano-Shurano at F-8. After a long-winded sales pitch, Heorot donates 10,000 gil and receives the Magicked Astrolabe in return. Oh, my aching wallet! However, the Magicked Astrolabe will open gates in the Eldieme Necropolis for a solo player, which I happen to be.

Next, Heorot teleports to Ru'Lude Gardens, Jeuno.

Ru'Lude Gardens (time 9:31):

In the northern garden of the Grand Duke Palace, Heorot talks to Maat at H-5. When the player has reached Level 50 in a job, Maat issues the quest "In Defiant Challenge". He challenges Heorot to gather a piece of Ancient Papyrus, a clump of Exoray Mold, and a chunk of Bomb Coal. Ancient Papyrus comes from Liches in the Eldieme Necropolis. Exoray Mold comes from Exorays in the Crawlers' Nest. Bomb Coal comes from Explosures in Garlaige Citadel. These items are exclusive and rare, so they cannot be acquired from the auction house. Optionally, you can also collect key items from ??? spots in each dungeon to acquire these items.

First, Heorot will delve into the Crawlers' Nest. He uses the Survival Guide at I-10 to teleport to Rolanberry Fields, Derfland.

Rolanberry Fields (time 13:17):

Now that Heorot is done finding weather conditions for the Carbuncle's Ruby, the game decides to provide heatwave weather in Rolanberry Fields. Thanks, game. But if I knew where the Fire Elemental spawned, I would go defeat it for a Fire Cluster.

Heorot heads south through the area. He goes to the southwestern high ground marked as Dietmund's Field.

At F-13, Heorot finds the exit to the Crawlers' Nest.

Crawlers' Nest (time 21:09):

At M-8 on the top level of the Crawlers' Nest, Heorot examines the Survival Guide. A very good idea, because Exorays check as tough to Level 50 characters.

Around H-8 on the top level, there is a ramp connecting to H-11 in the south of the second level. In the southwest of this level, starting at around H-9, Heorot begins finding Exorays.

One of the ??? key item spots for the quest is in the dead end at G-9. However, I disabled Sneak rather than Invisible and drew the unwanted attention of three Exorays! Big mistake. This is Heorot's first death. Probably not the last. The Exorays' Silence Gas is really nasty.

Meriphataud Mountains (time 30:20):

Heorot last set his home point at the Aragoneu Outpost in the Meriphataud Mountains, so he respawns there. He uses the Survival Guide at E-5 to teleport to Ru'Lude Gardens, Jeuno.

Ru'Lude Gardens (time 30:40):

Heorot sets his current home point to Home Point #2 near the Residential Area. Then, he uses the Survival Guide at I-10 to teleport back to the Crawlers' Nest, Derfland.
