After getting through the black mage fight, I talked to the Moogles then backtracked all the way to the South Gate forest to heal. I then got into random battles until I found a relatively safe battle to try to get Quina to 1 hp. It took a lot of trial and error, but ultimately I found that if I unequipped Vivi so that his Strength was as low as possible, I could get him to do either 18 or 19 damage to Quina. I did the same to Zidane and he did ~34 damage from this.

With this set up, I had Zidane deal damage once for 34 and then Vivi attacks 3 times, one time needing to hit for 19. It took a ton of attempts, but I eventually got it.

Now I had to not get into any battles on the way back to Gizamaluke. This is annoying, but you can at least Save scum your way to the Grotto to avoid random battles. From there, you need a lot of luck. Stopping and going helps. Avoiding the black mage is annoying too.

As for the fight itself. It's probably the least interesting part of this segment. I used Soul blade at the start to blind him, just so I could assure everyone survived to get AP. I also used slow, just because? Then finally finished him off with a Limit Glove. Seems silly, but a lot of work went into getting this far...
