Final Fantasy IX (Level 1, No items) Ep. 09 - Black Mages
16I wouldn't normally give these guys their own video, but with how much trouble they gave me, they deserve it. I explained why it's so difficult in yesterday's update video but to recap.
Had to choose between Needle Fork and Coral Ring.
10% chance to petrify per Quina-Attack.
They can 1 shot my characters with spells.
I can't heal in battle with these characters.
Thankfully, thanks to an idea by Vitamin-L in the Discord, we were able to get through. This new idea added more luck to the fight, but made it MUCH more safe. By equipping the Mage Masher to Zidane, pair with Add Status we can apply Silence Just getting it to stick to one of the mages, and getting the other one petrified is enough to make the fight super safe.
The only problem is that I only get a few shots to petrify before the mage dies. Thankfully, I got it pretty quickly. Overall this fight too more attempts than some of the harder Carry Armor fights I've done.
