Final Fantasy IX (Level 1, No Items) Ep. X - I'm stuck
15Hey guys, just an update since I've missed the last two uploads. I'm hard stuck on the Alexandria Beatrix. So let's get into why.
There are two methods for beating Beatrix. The first is to deal enough damage for Her to say "That's enough" and just 1 shot the whole party. This option isn't viable since Quina is no longer in our party. I did try though. Steiner with an optimized set up can hit for around 1000 per attack. After around 3000 damage, Beatrix uses Cura for about 800 HP. There's just not enough time before the party is wiped out.
The other method is to survive 10 turns. This is really the only viable option here. However without items i cannot just phoenix down spam my way through, which means things get VERY luck reliant. What it comes down to is I need to build everyone's evasion as HIGH as possible, while also putting them in the back row and having them all defend the whole time. Then i need to pray that Beatrix uses no more than 3 Sword Skills, (Thunder Slash, Shock) per battle. And then, I need to survive 7 regular attacks.
This has been a problem because she mostly spams her abilities instead of physical attacks. Solo-Freya can skip a couple of turns by using jump, however freya is unprotected when she lands and will 100% die before getting another turn.
An additional problem is I don't have the Coral ring. This would allow me to tank the Thunder Slash with 1 character improving my odds greatly. But if you remember back during the festival of the hunt. I was forced into a situation where I had to choose between the Needle Fork and the Coral Ring, as there was no way to defeat the Zaghnol, but i needed to get the needle fork still to dodge exp.
With how RNG grindy this challenge his been, I'm honestly really burned out, and I think I'm going to call it. I'm not saying it's not possible, but I am saying I don't really want to continue anymore.
What's next? I'm not sure. Maybe a break. Maybe I'll do the Community Challnge (FF13) I haven't decided yet.
