PREVIOUSLY:
Zidane, Vivi and Garnet explores Qu's Marsh, where they run into Quina, who was able to escape Cleyra, the strange Qu then re-joins the party in search for culinary enlightenment. Deeper into the swamps, Quina smells the scent of frogs coming from behind some tall grass, the others follow and they arrive at an excavation site that leads to Fossil Roo.

Inside they manage to escape a trap set up by one of the queen's bounty hunters Lani, who fights with the party to retrieve the princess's pendant. Zidane and the others manage to fend her off and traverse deeper into the mines, where they ride the untamed gargants underground to exit out the other end.
