PREVIOUSLY:
Back in Alexandria, the citizens mourn the passing of Queen Brahne, as Garnet prepares for her designation as the next queen of the kingdom, she also inherits from Doctor Tot the jewels her mother had taken from the kingdoms she had conquered.
Meanwhile, Zidane is distraught he must part with Garnet for whom he had begun to have feelings for, Vivi, along with his Tantalus friends, urges him to go visit Garnet, even Baku denies him of re-joining the group, and tells him to continue seeking what he really wants. Zidane and Vivi then meet up with Freya and Amarant to visit the princess.
The group rides the boat to the castle, where they meet Steiner and Eiko arguing by the entrance. With Vivi's request to see the princess, the Pluto Knight's Captain arranged a meeting between the two sides. Vivi, Freya, and Eiko were all astounded by the soon-to-be queen's elegance, but Zidane finds himself unable to say anything. As Garnet returns to her room, she, along with Eiko, each shares one of their respective jewels to each other, a symbol of their bonds as the last of the summoner tribe.
After they leave the castle, sensing her chance, Eiko tries to soften up Zidane, and a much-misplaced love letter from Eiko to Zidane falls into several pairs of hands, ending up being seen by Steiner and Beatrix, each of whom assumes it's from the other, and they ultimately meet up at the designated place and time. After all the eccentricities, the party gathers in the bar, where Doctor Tot invites Eiko to his home in Treno to discuss more about her roots, Zidane decides to join them to participate in an upcoming card game tournament, while Vivi, Freya and Amarant also tags along.
