Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remasters - Ch. 6 - Narshe to Zozo
Woah boy, strap yourselves in cuz we got a lot of ground to cover in this chapter. There's a lot of character development and exposition here. And since I'm not from Zozo, you can trust what I say.
CHAPTER 6 - NARSHE TO ZOZO
So first off, this is the first time you'll be free to explore Narshe. There's a couple things to do here. I always forget that we run into Shadow at Kohlingen, but he can only join if you have an empty slot. Plus there's some special scenes involving Edgar and Sabin at Figaro and with Locke at Kohlingen. So that kind of decides my party for me, doesn't it? Luckily, you can change your party at Arvis' house anytime. Then, there's a house directly south of Arvis' that contains a few choice treasures. There's one that's still locked that we can't get just yet. Additionally, there's an elixir at the Elder's house. We can wait until Jidoor to gear up, so let's head out.
When we get to Castle Figaro, an event will be triggered. Buy some new Tools and I'll definitely want to stock up on items, since we have no healer and we get the King's discount. Take a rest at the inn and you'll get to see Edgar and Sabin reminisce over their past. Now, we'll head down left stairs we see right when you get in. The guy there will now ask you if you want to submerge the castle and go to Kohlingen. Definitely yes. Seems like an impractical way to travel, but whatevs. We'll emerge on the other side of the mountain. From here, we'll go check out the Dragon Neck Cabin to the north before heading to Kohlingen. There's a Hero's Ring hidden here.
At Kohlingen, Locke will open up about his past with Rachel. Make sure to go both to Rachel's house and the Herb Specialist on the top right. There's a back entrance to this house, which leads to a Green Beret. And now we'll go to the café, where Shadow will offer to tag-along for 3,000 Gil. I have checked before and after and it does deduct the money from you. Now, we'll keep heading south until we reach Jidoor, the rich people's town. Notable places here is Owser's Mansion all the way north and the Auction House, which isn't running yet. Once you're done gearing up and healing, we can head out. I used the inn both in Kohlingen and Jidoor, but sadly did not see any of Shadow's dreams. Alas, some other time...
You can take a chocobo, or simply follow the light-green path to Zozo. The rich town of Jidoor expelled all the poor and criminal people. They formed their own town called Zozo. As you walk around this town, you'll get into battles. There's a building a little north after you enter which has a clock that needs setting. Almost everyone you speak to will give you clues about what time to set it to. A guy in Jidoor said not to trust anything anyone says. So if you talk to everyone and accept the opposite of what everyone says as the truth, you should be able to deduce the time.
I've played this game several times already, so I can't really forget that the time is '06:10:50'. If you want to go through the trouble of deducing the time, I respect that, but it's '06:10:50'. This will open a passage, which leads to Edgar's Chainsaw Tool. This is definitely a handy thing to have at the start of this town, as it does around 700 HP damage and will sometimes automatically kill its target. If you head down from the clock building, you'll stumble upon another building.
The guy here tells you that there definitely isn't a girl like Terra at the top of this building, so that means she is. Climb up until you can't progress anymore. There's a room near this point which has the Brigand's Glove relic. This turns the 'Steal' command into 'Mug', which allows you to steal and attack at the same time. Sweet! Now backtrack a little bit and head to the open window. You'll jump from one building to the other. Now simply climb this building to the top and jump from window-to-window again.
Can you guess what we're going to do now? Yup, we' re going to climb up this building. At the top, you'll see a dude standing in the way. Before talking to him, go to the room nearby and you'll find the 'Burning Fist' weapon for Sabin. Somewhere around this point, Shadow left me. I was contemplating re-playing this chapter, but screw it. Shadow leaves. We all know this. That's how the game goes. Anyway, the guy at the top is 'Dadaluma', the boss. Even with only three characters, he's not that tough.
Dadaluma has 3,200 HP and if you don't beat him quickly, he will summon two Iron Fists. He shouldn't pose much of a challenge. If you still have Shadow at this point, unequip him before entering cuz he's about to dip. Terra's inside and we'll get some insight as to what her deal is. We get a couple Espers and a new mission: go to the empire and free the other Espers. According to Ramuh, they might be able to help Terra. But first, it's time to take a much-needed break.
