Final Fantasy VII (Lowest Turn Count) Ep. 11 - Rufus
8Initially I thought this would be a 1 turn fight with poison. I was very wrong. I've tried many different ways to win this fight and all them took 3-4 turns. The main problem is leaving Dark Nation alive allows too much damage against yourself. Bolt does around 80-90 and half that when i equip Bolt = Elemental on my armor. But even with that and sadness they deal too much damage as a duo. So 1 turn is out of the question.
I tried pushing for a 2 turn fight by using 2 Bravers with the Hardedge. However, even with maximum damage rolls, I'm just shy of winning in 2 hits, I think maybe with 1 more level up I'd be good. Furthermore, this is typically impossible anyways because Darknation uses Barrier right away, thus halfing the damage. I've also tried a combo of Killing Darknation immediately with braver then tryign to kill Rufus with poison. This has a little promise but is too random. Rufus hits for about 18 damage when i've got sadness and am in the back row. Poison ticks for 15 against him, and with the 100ish damage poison deals to start I need 27 poison ticks until the fight ends. However Cloud can only survive about 20 hits from Rufus, This assumed there are no critical hits. This means I would need 9 Turns of "heh heh heh" .The most I've seen so far is 5. Looking at his AI, it seems he will use it only when his HP is above 200, and when your HP difference is less than 100. So it's probably not possible.
So I've had to resort to a 3 turn fight. There's 2 ways to do it. Both require that you kill darknation first and then poison Rufus second. From there you can either Heal when you get really low HP, or use another braver after 11 poison ticks. The former requires Sadness and the ladder requires Fury.
