Previously, Heorot carried out the quests "Lakeside Minuet" and "A Little Knowledge" and unlocked the jobs Dancer and Scholar. Now, he will unlock the jobs introduced in the Seekers of Adoulin expansion: Geomancer and Rune Fencer.

Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. He is currently a Red Mage/Black Mage. In his Delivery Box, he receives gil for two Plutons and two chunks of Beitetsu that sold at auction. Many thanks to the buyers!

Bastok Mines (time 1:27):

Heorot teleports to Western Adoulin.

Western Adoulin (time 2:03):

Heorot uses the Waypoint at E-8 to teleport to the Adoulin Waterfront Waypoint at I-5.

Just to the northeast, Heorot talks to Sylvie at I-5. This triggers a cutscene. After some ditzy dialogue from Sylvie and affirmative responses from Heorot, Sylvie issues the quest "Dances with Luopans", which unlocks Geomancer. It requires Level 30 or higher in the current main job, and it also requires the Seekers of Adoulin expansion to be installed and registered.

Heorot's first task is to obtain a Petrified Log and a Fistful of Homeland Soil. The Petrified Log is a woodworking material that can be picked up at the Auction House or obtained from certain monsters, among other sources. The Homeland Soil must be found near the Telepoint at the Crag associated with the player's home nation. If you are from San d'Oria, you must go to the Crag of Holla in La Theine Plateau. If you are from Windurst, you must go to the Crag of Mea in Tahrongi Canyon. Heorot is from Bastok, so he will go to the Crag of Dem in Konschtat Highlands.

Heorot Warps back to Bastok Mines.

Bastok Mines (time 10:40):

At the Auction House, Heorot picks up a Petrified Log. It can be found under Materials, then Woodworking.

Heorot uses the Survival Guide at I-9 to teleport to Konschtat Highlands, Zulkheim.

Konschtat Highlands (time 12:14):

Heorot arrives at G-3.

He rides to the Crag of Dem. Under the stairs to the active Telepoint, he examines the "Ergon Locus ???" target at I-6. He acquires the Fistful of Homeland Soil temporary key item. Now, he must deliver the items to Sylvie.

Heorot Warps back to Bastok Mines.

Bastok Mines (time 15:35):

Heorot teleports to Western Adoulin.

Western Adoulin (time 16:02):

Heorot uses the Waypoint at E-8 to teleport to the Adoulin Waterfront Waypoint at I-5.

Heorot Trades the Petrified Log to Sylvie at I-5. This triggers another cutscene. Sylvie takes the Petrified Log and Homeland Soil. Heorot acquires the Luopan permanent key item. Now, he must go to an Ergon Locus in the Yahse Hunting Grounds or Ceizak Battlegrounds to power up the Luopan.

Heorot uses the Waypoint at I-5 to teleport to Frontier Bivouac #1 in Ceizak Battlegrounds, East Ulbuka Territory.

Ceizak Battlegrounds (time 21:26):

Heorot arrives at H-9. He rides to the southeastern beach.

At K-10, Heorot finds the Ergon Locus target by the tree on the islet just off the coast. The following message appears in the log: "You are assaulted by an uncanny sensation." To power up the Luopan, he uses the Heal command. He must heal for a random amount of time, up to eight minutes. The following message should appear in the log at the start of the process: "The arcane energies begin to course within your veins."

The process is complete when the following message appears in the log: "You feel a mystical warmth welling up inside you!" It is time to return to Sylvie.

Heorot rides to Frontier Bivouac #1. He uses the Waypoint at H-9 to teleport to the Adoulin Waterfront in Western Adoulin.

Western Adoulin (time 31:12):

Heorot arrives at I-5.

He talks to Sylvie at I-5 for a cutscene. "Dances with Luopans" complete! Heorot earns the Geomancer job, a Plate of Indi-Poison, a Matre Bell, and the Job Gesture: Geomancer permanent key item.

Heorot uses the Waypoint at I-5 to teleport to Eastern Adoulin.

Eastern Adoulin (time 36:59):

Heorot teleports to the Statue of the Goddess Waypoint at H-8.

At I-8, Heorot talks to Octavien for a cutscene. Octavien speaks of the process of becoming a Rune Fencer. It sounds dangerous, so of course Heorot agrees. Eventually, Octavien issues the quest "Children of the Rune", which unlocks the Rune Fencer job. It requires Level 30 or higher in the current main job, and it also requires the Seekers of Adoulin expansion to be installed and registered.

The next objective is to go to the Yahse Hunting Grounds and acquire a Yahse Wildflower Petal at K-7. How nice of Octavien to provide an exact location.

Heorot uses the Waypoint at I-7 to teleport to the Wharf to Yahse Waypoint at G-6. He talks to Lamaron at G-5 and takes a ferry to the Yahse Hunting Grounds, East Ulbuka Territory.
