Previously, we started the game. After gaining control of Reks, we progressed to the Upper Apartments of Nalbina Fortress. Now, Reks, Basch, and company must prevent the Archadian Empire from assassinating King Raminas.
After resuming in the Upper Apartments zone, Reks continues upstairs to the Highhall zone (time 0:31). A scene takes place.
We regain control of Reks, now alone, in the Highhall (time 0:51). There are three Imperial Swordsmen to defeat. They should not present a problem.
A long scene takes place as Reks enters the audience chamber in the west of the zone (time 2:06). Things do not go as intended. More than that, there is something fishy about this situation.
More narration takes place after the scene (time 4:45). I am not convinced that the narrator's message was entirely truthful.
Afterwards, we are in the Overflow Cloaca zone of the Garamsythe Waterway (time 6:21). We meet the game's viewpoint character, Vaan, and his young friend, Kytes.
We gain control of Vaan (time 6:56). He starts at Level 1. He has basic equipment: a Dagger, a Leather Cap, and Leather Clothing. He also has the Steal technick at his disposal. His task is to defeat the three Dire Rats, which are not difficult enemies.
A scene takes place after Vaan has defeated the Dire Rats (time 8:14).
Afterwards, a scene takes place in the streets of the Royal City of Rabanastre (time 9:01). Vaan plies his "trade".
We catch up with Vaan in the next scene (time 10:11). He runs into his friend, Penelo.
The map opens up after the scene (time 12:17). A target marker shows up in the southeast of the East End zone of Rabanastre. The World Map option appears on the party menu.
Vaan begins exploring the East End zone of Rabanastre (time 13:21). For the moment, his exploration is limited.
A brief scene takes place if he goes west towards the Bazaar zone (time 13:35). Yes, those two Imperials are probably sore.
One little Rabanastran will provide some background if Vaan pays him 1 gil (time 13:57). Sure, I guess.
A scene takes place as Vaan approaches Migelo's Sundries (time 18:06). Migelo wants Vaan to find Kytes, who was supposed to be running an errand for him at the Sandsea.
We regain control of Vaan after the scene (time 19:20). Vaan can now enter the shops, though he does not have much gil right now.
The Sandsea is in the northeast of the East End (time 22:27). A scene takes place as Vaan enters. He meets Kytes and Tomaj, the Sandsea's owner. Vaan's attention is drawn to a hunt on the notice board.
Afterwards, Tomaj explains the process of taking hunts (time 23:54). First, Vaan must read a bill posted on a notice board and accept the hunt. Then, he must talk to the petitioner. Vaan automatically takes on "Red & Rotten in the Desert", the hunt for the Rogue Tomato. The Rogue Tomato is located in the Dalmasca Estersand. This is the only story-required hunt. Tomaj gives Vaan a Clan Primer, which keeps track of hunts, the bestiary, and other things. The Clan Primer now appears as an option on the party menu. Also, Tomaj gives Vaan an Orrachea Armlet.
This brings up another topic: Licenses. To use any equipment, spells, or technicks in the party's possession, a party member must pick up the appropriate License on his or her license board. It's a bit of hassle. The Licenses option now appears on the party menu. Tomaj gives Vaan a Writ of Transit, which he will need to get to the Eastgate and the Estersand beyond.
We regain control of Vaan in the Sandsea tavern (time 25:40). Under Licenses, Vaan selects the Shikari License Board. The Shikari can mainly equip Daggers but also Katana. Vaan spends 5 LP (License Points) on the Accessories 1 license so he can equip the Orrachea Armlet.
After exploring the Sandsea, Vaan heads back out to the East End (time 30:59).
He heads south and takes the exit to the Southern Plaza (time 32:54).
Vaan talks to a Desert Merchant near the northeast corner of the fountain (time 33:09). The Desert Merchant asks Vaan to take a Small Package and deliver it to another Bangaa at the Eastgate. Vaan could sell off the Small Package for gil, but it's barely worth it.
The description is continued in the comments.
