Previously, the party explored the Balouve Mines in Leide and dug up the Bow of the Clever. Now, they will check out another optional dungeon, Daurell Caverns in southern Duscae.
After resuming in Cape Caem, they begin driving east towards Daurell Caverns (time 0:41).
After a bit of a drive, they pull over in the Schier Heights (time 4:50).
To the south, they enter Daurell Caverns (time 6:48). Upon entering, they acquire the sidequest "Daurell Caverns". They must explore this dungeon and defeat the monster in the innermost sanctum. Look out for nasty daemons such as Necromancers, palette swaps of the Mindflayers fought in Greyshire Glacial Grotto. They can inflict petrification.
Just southeast of the entrance, the party finds a Strong Bone (time 9:48).
At the first intersection, they take the southeast path. A fire deposit is not far down the path. They crawl through a low-clearance area.
Past the low-clearance area, they find a Fossil Wood (time 12:01).
Farther east, they slide down a ramp to the dungeon's lower level (time 12:36). The party will notice scaffolding above the chamber.
At the base of the ramp, they find a Hardedge (time 13:44).
To the east, they find a Beetle Shell (time 14:36).
Following the path south, they can find an alcove to the west with a Silver Bangle (time 15:27). Nice.
Continuing south, they will find poisonous muck. The Ribbon prevents sap damage while wading through it, but not the Star Pendant.
On a ledge above the poisonous muck in the southeast, the party finds a Hi-Potion (time 19:52).
On a higher ledge, they find another Hi-Potion (time 20:37).
On a ledge near a split, they find another Moogle Charm (time 21:15). This is a great find!
Near the northwestern branch, the party finds a lightning deposit.
The party first takes the southwestern branch. At the next intersection, they continue southwest.
By the shores of a pond, they find a Heliodor Bracelet (time 23:34). They also find the Daurell Stills fishing spot.
Backtracking to the previous intersection, the party takes the southeast path.
In the next largish chamber, they find Assassin's Daggers along the northeast wall (time 27:32).
The path gradually turns east. When it turns northeast, there is a dead end off to the southeast. In this dead end, the party finds Oracle Ascension Coin #027 (time 29:32).
The party continues northeast and then north. The path leads up to the level of the catwalks that the party observed earlier (time 32:16).
Soon, they find a ladder along the eastern walkway (time 33:02). If they examine it, they will extend it so that they can access it later.
In the north, they find a food spot that yields Allural Shallots (time 34:16).
Continuing on, they find an Ammonite Fossil (time 34:43).
When they reach the end of this upper path, a scene takes place (time 34:57). The boss encounter spawns down below. From this ledge, Noctis can warp-strike south to a ledge, but it seems that he can only do this while enemies are down below. Fortunately, if he goes down to help his friends, he can warp-strike back up to the ledge, as long as one of the enemies is still alive. The enemies include an Iron Giant, Ronins, Hecteyes, and Necromancers. You may want to at least defeat the Iron Giant and the other heavy hitters before trying to stay on the upper ledge.
When the boss encounter is clear, the quest "Daurell Caverns" is complete (time 37:23). The party earns 4,000 EXP apiece. If Noctis managed to remain on the southern ledge, he can let down the ladder for later use.
Beyond another crawlway, the party finds yet another locked door (time 38:17).
Back at the northern end of the drop, the party finds a Sapphire Bracelet (time 40:04). This enhances Strength by 45.
The party continues exploring the lower level. From the split with the lightning deposit, they head northwest.
In the next largish room, they find a Hi-Elixir (time 41:37).
At the end of the path, they find a cliff face they can climb (time 42:21). After the second cliff face, they are back on the upper level near a welcome ice deposit.
The party soon finds a Rusted Bit (time 43:22).
When they reach another narrow squeeze, some amusing dialogue takes place (time 43:50).
Eventually, the party emerges from Daurell Caverns (time 45:57). Thank goodness.
