It is time to enter Conand Tower and take back the Lance of Ruin from Miklan, and Gilbert of the Knights of Seiros is our guide for this mission. We must prepare ourselves, as Miklan and his band of thieves are tough opponents, and we must prepare for what is at the end, as we will need all we can for this.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

This chapter takes place in Conand Tower, and this is considered to be one of the harder chapters in the game, because our guie for this mission is Gilbert, and he isn't really that helpful, while he is a Fortress Knight, and he has high Defense for taking bow attacks from Archers, his low Res means that he can easily be defeated by Mages, and his Steel Axe does not have a good hit rate, and even worse, Gilbert likes to stand near the wall, and he can draw in every enemy on the map, even Miklan will start moving.
I recommend to have some of your units have Combat Arts that deal bonus damage to Monster Units, and save some Gambits for the end of the battle. At the start of the map, there is a chest containing an Armorslayer, and a nearby Thief has a Chest Key. The Armorslayer deals bonus damage against Armored units, and as Mikan is an Armored Knight, that will deal extra damage against him. The Archers have Bowrange +1, and as Gilbert tends to be near the wall, that can draw the Archer's attention and cause most of the enemy's entire forces to move, and you don't get any reward even if Gilbert survives this chapter.
This map has a lot of reinforcements, on turn 2, two Thieves will appear, and on turn 6, two more Thieves, as well as two Mages appear from the starting position. When you pass the broken pillar, two Thieves will spawn from the northeastern corner, and two more will spawn on the next turn.
For items, a Fortress Knight has an Accuracy Ring, so I recommend sending a Mage to defeat the Rogue. Some of the Rogues have Battalions, which is an enemy exclusive Battalion, and Miklan even has that Battalion as well.
Time to fight Miklan, and he has unique dialogue if you let Sylvain fight him. He is a tough opponent, but he isn't difficult, while the Lance of Ruin is a Hero's Relic and can deal a lot of damage to your units, it requires the unit to have the Crest of Gautier to get the full effect, and as Miklan does not have a Crest, he will take 10 damage after initiating combat. If you have any good magic users or equipped the Armorslayer to one of your units, those can help, or you can have your Archers weaken Miklan a bit so that you can finish him off.
After defeating Miklan, we get a cutscene where he tries to use the Lance of Ruin to great power, but as he does not have a Crest, this will cause him to transform into a Demonic Beast, and it is the first one in the game. Sothis then gives us a tutorial on how to fight Demonic Beasts, and this does restore all of your Divine Pulses if you have used any, and all units are moved to the center of the map.
Monster units have barriers around them, it requires two hits to break them with weapons, but you can use Gambits or Combat Arts, like Monster Breaker, Bane of Monster, and others, to break them. If you have saved Gambits, they can break more than one barrier, and Gambits draw the monster's attention, and when you have broken all the barriers, that will stun the monster for that turn, and you will earn Umbral Steel, which can be used to repair Heroes' Relics.
The Black Beast has the Crest Stone of Gautier, and after the Black Beast attacks, he will charge up a Staggering Blow for the next turn, he can use Thorns of Ruin, which has a wide range and it reduces the Speed of anyone affected by it, and it will restore all broken barriers.
The Black Beast has Vital Defense, which protects him from critical hits, Magic Bind inflicts silence status to targets, preventing them from using magic attacks, and Death Blow boosts Strength by 6.
After defeating the Black Beast, you have completed the chapter, and if you have Sylvain recruited, you get a choice on if you want to keep the Lance of Ruin or not, if you choose to keep it, you get a powerful weapon, but this does mean you decrease support with Rhea. You do get the Lance of Ruin later on in the game if you choose not to keep it. If you are doing New Game +, you can equip it to a unit that has the Crest item for Gautier, and then we go through a bunch of scenes, and we are given our mission for the next month.
