First Impressions (MV) - Ilden's Parable - Interesting Combat System - Maybe a bit too hard
73How's it going everyone, in this RPG Maker MV First Impressions video we take a look at Ilden's Parable demo from Bloopy (and/or Memeism). This is an interesting game in that the battle system is much different from other JRPGS. The combat system is a side view battle system, with some unique features. Guarding will restore your FP, which is technically your MP. You don't have any TP gauge. Which I'm fine with, but the part that makes this a super hard game is that almost all the skills take a massive amount of your actors' HP. There's also a broken combination in the game which can be fixed by making the stuns not 100% every time. This can add more difficulty to the game, but can easily be counter-acted by reducing the HP cost on skills. I found that it was way too expensive and dangerous to use your abilities. The music selection was done well, as I liked every track I heard. The mapping is also done well. Even though there are many default RTP elements to the game I feel it is designed and built well. The writing is a bit dark and profane but for the most part it's written well. I felt like the buffs and debuff skills should last 5 turns instead of 2-3. I think adding a hint somewhere that guarding will restore your FP will help the player early on.
Overall I would recommend this game in it's current state. It's an interesting demo, with a unique-ish battle mechanic that forces you to learn the abilities and use them wisely. Thanks for watching! :)
