First Impressions MV - The Lost - Systems on Systems, Decently Designed and Challenging Game
How's it going everyone, in this RPG Maker MV First Impressions video we take a look at a game called "The Lost" by DutchPowerCreations. This game is well designed and has a great tutorial system built into act 0. I love how the systems are introduced one at a time and not all unlocked from the beginning of the game. This helps dampen and possibly prevents analysis overload on your players, good move. The mapping looked unique, but the screen tinting could still use some work. Most of the maps felt too dark, or like the contrast was off. It's hard to really explain what I mean, but look at how dark the maps and battle screens are as well as the amount of contrast. The character design and dialog is probably above average and I found it to be an interesting storyline. I also liked the side quests system tacked onto the game with optional dungeons etc. (Even though the dungeon I played was way to dark.) The character driven dialog carries the narrative really well. The game has several cool features like a minimap, (which my camera covers up, sorry about that.) As well as a compass to show the next options. (Even though I only really noticed this after playing about an hour. It's still a great addition.) The player's felt very different but I found the 4 row system to be slightly complicated and probably overkill. 2-3 rows works better in my opinion, but I do like the level of detail put into this 4 row system. When selecting rows you can see a faint combat overlay that shows the names of the rows, which can be very helpful if you're being super tactical or moving your party around a bunch. This game is already in a good position and probably has a ton of content, but I've only played for about an hour and a half. From what I've seen so-far, I could safely recommend this game for you to try. Give it a go if you can get a download link. (Ask in the comments below and maybe the dev will give a download link.) Please let the dev know what you think of this project by leaving your feedback in the comments below. Anyway, thanks for watching. :)
