Fish Dude (Game Boy) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Sofel's 1991 action game for the Nintendo Game Boy, Fish Dude.
Fish Dude I think is probably one of those super-obscure games that, unless you happened to get it as a kid, you've never heard of. It is quite unique in its premise - the goal of each stage is to eat enough fish to fulfill the stage's quota, and then after a few stages you evolve and become a bigger fish in a bigger pond. It actually feels a bit like a violent Pac-Man with the maze-style layouts. The giant goldfish cracker enemies make pretty good stand-ins for the ghosts, and the music is pretty awesome, and it's just long enough to not feel too long. The core eat-and-run mechanic is a fun idea, but there's not a lot to it, so it's nice that it doesn't out stay its welcome. It's a lot like Penguin Wars in that regard.
