Marble Madness (Game Gear) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Sega's 1991 arcade game for the Sega Game Gear, Marble Madness.
The Game Gear of this classic doesn't hold a candle to the console versions for a few reasons, but it's serviceable enough if you want Marble Madness on the go. The extremely zoomed in view due to the resolution can make planning a path difficult, and there are a few off things that stand out (the the wavy-floor shortcut in thr third race no longer acting wavy), and the controls are a bit difficult (holding a diagonal to make a straight line is nowhere near as reliable here as in any of the other console versions, and the momentum feels a bit off), but still. This would've been sweet in 1991 on a road trip.
I'm also using this video as a sort of test for another Retroarch shader - this time, using a LCD shader that gives the screen that pretty distinct 90s color handheld screen door effect. Let me know what you think - should future Game Gear uploads be done like this, or do you prefer to watch the straight video recording as put out through unfiltered emulation? I'm a big fan of how much this really resembles a GG screen, but you are the guys watching, so you tell me your preference:)
