FMCSA extends HOS suspension AGAIN! | No Logs! | Trucking Answers
The FMCSA has taken the historic step of extending the hours of service exemption until June 14 if you are hauling a load that qualifies. This has never been done nationwide since the HOS were put in to place. What this means is that you can basically toss out the window 390-399 other than a few exceptions. No headlight, no problem. No taillight, no problem. This does not mean you can speed but the safety regulations, which are part of this section, are not to be enforced. You can drive as long as you feel safe if you are on one of these loads. 1000 miles? Yes. I would keep track of them and I would keep a copy of the bills to show later if there was a problem. Trucking companies do not have to allow drivers to exceed the HOS, they can do it at their discrection.
