Hours of Service Changes ANNOUNCED by FMCSA! Finally! | Trucking Answers
The FMCSA has announced final rule changes to the HOS for truck drivers and I have it right here! There are four main changes to go over and I tried to be brief. If you have questions be sure to write. They are changing the short haul, adverse driving exemption, split sleeper berth and the 30 minute break. These are important changes. They go into effect 120 days from the date of publication which should be around May 15 so I anticipate them going in effect around the beginning of fall 2020. Mid September or so. I think drivers will feel good about the changes to the 30 minute break. It isn't all that people wanted but it is better than it was I believe. Some truck drivers wanted an end to the 70 hour rule but I never liked that idea. That protects drivers from being abused by a carrier and I think you should be able to make a living at 70 hours a week or less. Make more, don't work more. I made this for those who don't want to watch a longer live show replay. Watch that live show for driver reactions! We will be talking more about this as it gets closer to implementation.
